Nurse Advice Line
Calling Our Advice Nurses
We have a phone advice line available to our established patients. Calls to the office advice nurse are FREE during office hours. Our advice nurses are specially trained "Registered Nurses" who can answer a wide variety of medical questions.
Should you have medical questions or concerns during daytime hours, we invite you to contact our "phone advice nurse" at 770-995-0823 option 4.
- Due to the large volume of calls for the telephone nurse, you may be asked to leave a message.
- Our telephone nurse will return your call as soon as possible.
- All calls will be returned according to the order in which they are received and according to the severity of the medical question or condition.
After reviewing your child's complete medical history via the electronic medical records system, the advice nurse will provide you with medical advice and instruction specific to the needs of your child.
Messaging Our Advice Nurses
You may also send a patient portal message to our advice nurses, but please do not both call and send a portal message.
After reviewing your child's complete medical history via the electronic medical records system, the advice nurse will provide you with medical advice and instruction specific to the needs of your child.
About Medications
Please understand, nurses do not prescribe medication. Because we care about the safety and health of your child, our pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners are the only individuals who are allowed to prescribe prescription medications, and only after your child has been examined.
Before You Call
To facilitate your call, please have the following information available:
- Child's age and weight.
- A listing of medications your child is currently taking. It is preferable to have the actual medicine containers in hand for a quick reference to active ingredients.
After Hours Calls to CHOA
Because our practice is charged per call for any call made to the CHOA advice line, calls for advice after hours for non-emergency questions to the on-call physician may be charged $15.00.
Insurance Advice Lines
Use your insurance company advice line for non-emergency after hours calls.
If your insurance company does not offer after hours advice, our answering service will direct your call appropriately.
